WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE- ARE YOU LIVING A LIFE YOU WERE DESTINED FOR?

It is Monday morning; you wake up at 6am getting ready to go to work or going to your first class at university. You feel demotivated and it is a drag to get out of bed. So many thoughts go through your mind while taking a shower. Do I love my job? Do I really want to become an engineer or is that what my parents want?

How can you tell if you are living a life you were destined for? Do you know what your purpose in life is? Such tough questions all to ask on a Monday morning. Well, don’t worry you do not have to answer those questions straight away.

We are going through life on this journey firstly to discover who we are. We change our minds about what we want to become, based on the circumstances around us. It is tough figuring out your purpose when the world gives you so many possibilities.

I know, I for one, dreamt of becoming a teacher because of how amazing my primary school teacher was. Thereafter I wanted to become a lawyer due to my parents being in a divorce. Then one day in grade 9, I was sitting in accounting class and something inside of me loved how the entire accounting system worked. It was that moment when I thought I could do this for the rest of my life. Neither did I understand the path to becoming a chartered accountant or the obstacles and challenges I would face to achieve my dream.
Let’s first start by what makes you happy. Do you enjoy interacting with people or children; or would you rather prefer working by yourself? These are the honest questions you need to ask yourself that would give you a smile at the end of the day knowing that you are living a life you were destined for.
When you take steps to finding your purpose, life gives you small, amazing signs telling you are on the right path. Obstacles gives you lessons either redirecting your path or helping you grow into the role; God has prepared you for.

Sometimes, it is taking a leap of faith and stepping out of your comfort zone that would bring you to a place of peace that would give you meaning even if it means starting from nothing. Discovering your purpose is taking small steps to achieve your dream. In the words of Tony Robbins “No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress; you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying”. Start today and take a leap of faith, I dare you!
